This month: Delegates to our SD 42 convention on March 1st. If
you attend caucus night and become a delegate to the March 1st Senate

Feb. 5th caucus Did you know... caucuses
are well-attended during presidential election years? People know they
can have an impact during caucus activities. Let others know your
opinions by attending caucus night.
Which CD 3 candidate is the right one for you? Here
are opportunities to meet and hear candidates State Sen. Terri Bonoff,
Jim Hovland and Ashwin Madia discuss issues that are important to you:

SD 42 wants you
Volunteer needs
SD 42 caucus night, Feb. 5: -as a guide (directing people to their precinct caucus rooms, helping them read precinct maps) -as an assistant to conveners
in precinct caucus rooms (helping hand out ballots, collecting them,
helping people sign in, helping hand out materials, acting as a runner
if the convener has questions, etc.).
TRAINING PROVIDED FOR BOTH
VOLUNTEER POSITIONS: There will be separate training sessions available
for guides and convener assistants on January 29 and January 31 at 7
p.m. at Eden Prairie High School, East Commons (to show you where you
will be working). Both nights have the same two trainings, so choose one date to attend.

SD 42's committee to sponsor a debate among CD 3 Congressional seat candidates Feb. 27: -
help determine the format of the Eden Prairie debate and choose a
moderator. More information will be available soon about volunteering
for this activity.

SENATE DISTRICT 42 NEWS AND NOTES
A record turnout of Democrats at the Iowa caucus - we can make the same happen here! Iowa Democrats sent a message on Thursday: They understand that they have power as voters when they take time to get involved.
How
about you? What do you stand for? What changes do you want to see? What
needs to be fixed? And which candidates can make those things happen
for you?
You, too, can start using your power as a voter when
you attend caucus night at Eden Prairie High School on Tuesday, Feb. 5,
starting at 7 p.m. Come earlier if you'd like to meet and listen to
some of the candidates.
If you'd like to watch results
come in from caucuses all over the state with fellow DFLers, come to
the watch party at the VFW Post in Hopkins after caucuses adjourn.
Attending caucus night won't take much of your time. Caucus
activites take just a couple of hours, but can help assure the future
you want for yourself, your family and your neighbors. Let's join
together on Feb. 5 and make a difference.

State Senator Terri Bonoff is the current guest on Democratic Visions. She discusses with host Larry Piumbroeck her candidacy for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Democratic Visions is a cable-access TV show produced
by DFL Senate District 42 volunteers. The show airs on Channel 15 at 9
p.m. Sundays and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Eden Prairie, Edina, Hopkins,

Senate District 42 Central Committee members, including the Executive
Committee, local state central committee members, all precinct chairs
and associate chairs. You are also welcome to attend. Your input is
valuable and you will be able to participate fully except for voting.

Volunteer on a committee.
We have many opportunities that can fit your talents
and schedules. You'll have fun, meet other DFL supporters in your
community and feel good about helping a great cause. Our committees
include: affirmative action and outreach; candidate support and
development; communications and technology; events; fundraising;
precinct organization; and strategic planning and research. Go here for more information and to sign up. Write a letter to the editor. Writing letters to the editors of our local papers is an important way
we can support our DFL elected officials and promote progressive issues. Go here for more information. Make a contribution. It's
easy to make a contribution to DFL Senate District 42 and it will only
cost you five minutes of your time and a postage stamp. If this is your
first contribution of 2007 to a state candidate or DFL organization,
you can take advantage of the Minnesota Political Contribution Refund Program
and receive a refund of $50 per individual or $100 per couple. That's
right, a refund. There is no catch or fine print. Think of it as a
"loan" to help Democrats win because you'll get your money back from
the state in 2 - 4 weeks. You can write your check to Senate District
42 DFL and mail it to 9322 Overlook Trail, Eden Prairie, MN,
