Welcome to Our Fourth Issue of DFL Spotlight.

One of the first things you're told when you get involved in a political campaign is that time is your most precious commodity. It's the one thing you can't get more of it. Why lead off our issue of the newsletter with a comment like this? Well, as of July 31, we have less than 100 days until the election.

For our candidates to be successful this fall, we need your help from now through November 7.

We need your time: You can help the senate district by helping us on one of our committees that are creating a support network for our candidates. You can also volunteer on one of the campaigns.

We need your treasure: For our candidates to win, we need to help them get the message that the DFL is the party supporting quality education, a balanced tax structure and a comprehensive plan for transportation to name a few. That takes money. If you haven't donated this year's $50 to a state candidate or the DFL, please write a check now to Senate District 42 DFL and mail it to Linnea Sodergren, our Treasurer, at 5441 Pompano Dr, Minnetonka, MN 55343. Or, you can make a secure donation online at our website www.dflsd42.org

Already made a refundable donation and gotten your $50 back? Please consider making another. If you can fit it in your budget, your money will be used to support the DFL's message of inclusion and support. And, without it we can't support your candidates.

We've got exciting plans in place, but we need you to make them happen. Help us help change happen.

Being a precinct chair is grassroots organization at its core. Precinct chairs organize volunteers in their precincts precinct to work with your local candidates and the Coordinated Campaign staff, and get to know some of your neighbors at the same time. Join a Senate District Committee
Senate District 42 still wants to hear from you. Join one of our committees and get involved with behind the scenes party building. Committees include; affirmative action and outreach, candidate support and development, communications and technology, events, fundraising, precinct organization and strategic planning and research. Saturday, August 5: House Party for Carol Bomben and Maria Ruud Stefan Peterson and Shanti Shah will be hosting a house party for Senate District 42 candidate Carol Bomben and Rep. Maria Ruud (42A) on Saturday night.

Thursday, August 10: Senate District 42 Central Committee
The next Central Committee meeting for Senate District 42 is Thursday, August 10th, at 7 p.m. in the Minnetonka Mills Room at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard in Minnetonka. The Central Committee is made up of about 80 people, including the Executive Committee, State Central Committee members and all precinct chairs and associate chairs. All local Democrats are welcome to attend these meetings. Your input is valued and you will be able to participate fully, with the exception of voting. Meetings will be held the second Thursday of every month in the Shady Oak Room at the Minnetonka Community Center. Upcoming meetings are September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14. Saturday, August 12: State Central Committee meeting
The next State Central Committee meeting will be on Saturday, August 12th at Sauk Rapids High School in Sauk Rapids. The committee will be endorsing a new Attorney General candidate to replace Rep. Matt Entenza who withdrew from the race in mid-July. Visit the DFL website for more details.

Phone banking and canvassing for the DFL Coordinated Campaign The DFL Coordinated Campaign phone banks every Tuesday and Thursday office at the Edina "Harris" office. If phone banking isn't your cup of tea, they also do weekly door knocking. If you are interested in either activity, or general office work, please contact Dustin Trice at dtrice@dfl.org.
