Welcome to Our Third Issue of DFL Spotlight.
We had a great response to our candidates and booth at Eden Prairie's July 4th celebration at Round Lake Park.

In another sign that Eden Prairie is becoming increasingly Democratic with a big "D", the State Party will be holding it's Central Committee meeting at Eden Prairie High School. We'll be hosting up to 1,000 DFLers from around the state. If you're knowledgeable about the school's layout, we need your expertise in directing people to the appropriate rooms.

That weekend is also the Raspberry Festival, where our candidates will be appearing at our booth.

Fourth of July Celebration
Senate District 42 Democrats enjoyed the wonderful weather and political conversation at Eden Prairie's annual Fourth of July celebration at Round Lake.

Face and nail painting, hair decorations and Icees entertained the children, while candidates and elected officials spoke with the adults. Hennepin County Attorney candidate Andy Luger joined us, as well as 3rd Congressional District candidate Wendy Wilde. Carol Bomben, Rob Boyd and Maria Ruud shook hands and kissed babies all afternoon.

A very big 'thank you' goes out to all of the volunteers that helped out (far more than were signed up), everyone that stopped by to say "hello," and to Cheryl Poling and MaryAnne Bryndal for organizing our booth.

Saturday, July 8, saw a strong gathering of candidates and constituents at Eden Prairie Library. Wendy Wilde (3rd Congressional District), Mark Ritchie (Secretary of State), Rebecca Otto (State Auditor), Andy Luger (Hennepin County Attorney), Carol Bomben (State Senate District 42), Rep. Maria Ruud (State House District 42A) and Rob Boyd (State House District 42B) visited one-on-one with attendees, answering their questions and listening to their concerns.

Looking to become more politically active? We have a variety of activities coming up.
We are looking for volunteers for weekly phone banking on Monday and Tuesday nights at our DNC campaign office in Edina. If phone banking isn't your cup of tea, we also have another DNC canvass on July 29. Volunteers are needed for the 3rd CD shift at the DFL State Fair booth. More information on that will be coming soon.

We always need volunteers for our senate district committees. You do not have to be a central committee to join. There are a variety of committees to be involved with, including technology, affirmative action outreach, fundraising, and event planning/volunteering. If you are interested in joining a committee or, to find out the complete list, email Deb Pitzrick at dpitzrick@dflsd42.com.

July 15th & 16: Raspberry Festival
Attend Hopkins' annual Raspberry Festival with the West Metro Democrats. Enjoy good food (and plenty of raspberries) while supporting our DFL candidates and elected officials! July 15: State Central Committee Meeting
The upcoming State Central Committee meeting is on July 15th at Eden Prairie High School.

August 3: Join Us for an Evening with Radio Host and Author Al Franken
Join with other Democrats in the 3rd CD for an evening of fun while helping raise funds to support our candidates.

When: Saturday, August 3, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
Where: Medina Ballroom, 5000 Hwy. 55, Medina, MN 55430

Tickets:
$100 per person for a premium, reserved seat at a table closest to the stage. $60 per person for a seat at a table on the mail floor $35 per person for seated general admission.

60% of your ticket price will go to our senate district and its candidates. 40% will go to the 3rd Congressional District and its candidate.

Tickets are available from your Precinct Chair and Associate Chair, as well as all Senate District officers or you can make a secure credit card purchase on our website. Contact Sally Burns if you have any questions.

And, please purchase your tickets from a member of ou senate district. All of the money from tickets purchased at the door the evening of the event will go to the 3rd Congressional District. We'd appreciate your support of our candidates with an early purchase.
