Rob Boyd Endorsed for 42B House SeatRob Boyd, a Navy veteran and computer technology specialist from Eden Prairie, has been endorsed by our senate district's Central Committee to run for the 42B seat (southern Eden Prairie) in the state House of Representatives. "I diagnose and fix problems," says Boyd, who works at Data Recognition Corporation, "and that will help me as a legislator." Boyd, originally from St. Louis, has lived in Eden Prairie for three years. He and his wife, Joan, have two children, Ella (4) and Mac (2). Boyd has a bachelor's degree in English and served four years in the Navy as a radio communications specialist. His top concerns are education, transportation and health care. "We have to do better for Minnesota," he says. "The current administration is taking us in the wrong direction." DFL Offices to Open in Edina, Brooklyn Park DFL offices are set to open in Edina and Brooklyn Park by June 28. The Edina office is at 6950 France Ave S., Suite 108, and Brooklyn Park office is at 8501 Wyoming Ave N. These offices will be used by candidates and by volunteers for phone banking, meeting spots for canvassing and for get-out-the-vote. Stay tuned for phone numbers and office hours. June 21: Monthly Meeting of 3rd CD Central
CommitteeThe June meeting of the DFL's 3rd Congressional District Central Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard in Minnetonka. The 3rd CD Central Committee is made up of senate district chairs from throughout the congressional district, directors, state central committee members and others. All local Democrats are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. Your input is valued and you will be able to participate fully, with the exception of voting. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Minnetonka Community Center. June 24: Eden Prairie/Minnetonka Door-to-Door Canvassing A local door-to-door canvass for Eden Prairie and southern Minnetonka is set for Saturday, June 24, as part of a statewide effort. Volunteers will be knocking on doors, identifying and persuading voters, and dropping off candidates' literature. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Starbucks at 9639 Anderson Lakes Parkway (just west of 169) in Eden Prairie for brief training, maps and literature. June 25: Summer Rally for Carol Bomben Come meet Carol Bomben, who is running for State Senate in SD 42, find out what's happening with the campaign and help us kick off a strong summer presence with door knocking, event visibility and more. Rally will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Chevy's Fresh Mex, 8335 Crystal View Road, Eden Prairie. June 27: Health Care Expert Kip Sullivan to Speak at Local DFL Links The Eden Prairie/Minnetonka DFL Links (formerly DFL Meetup) will be held Tuesday, June 27, from 7-9 p.m. at the Bear Rock Caf?, 13330 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. Health care expert Kip Sullivan will be speaking about the escalating health care crisis, and the need for a single-payer system. Learn more about Kip Sullivan and order his book here. DFL Links are usually held the fourth Tuesday of each month. You can informally meet and socialize with neighbors who share similar political views, hear updates on national and local campaigns and issues, learn about volunteer opportunities and get plugged into the DFL. Maria Ruud, State Senate candidate Carol Bomben and legislative candidate Rob Boyd from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, at the patio between Noodles & Co. and Chipotle on Technology Drive in Eden Prairie. This is next to the SouthWest Transit Station, just west of Prairie Center Drive. Share your ideas, thoughts and concerns about education, health care, transportation, jobs, the environment and more. July 4th: Volunteers Needed for SD 42 Booth at Round Lake in Eden Prairie Volunteers are needed for the SD 42 booth at the Round Lake July 4th celebration in Eden Prairie. Our booth will offer children-oriented activities and guest appearances by local, statewide and federal candidates. Even U.S. Senate Candidate Amy Klobuchar has publicly remarked about the number and enthusiasm of volunteers at our July 4th booth. July 13: SD 42 Central Committee Monthly Meeting The next Central Committee meeting for Senate District 42 is Thursday, July 13, at 7 p.m. in the Shady Oak Room at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard in Minnetonka. The Central Committee is made up of about 80 people, including the Executive Committee, State Central Committee members and all precinct chairs and associate chairs. All local Democrats are welcome to attend these meetings. Your input is valued and you will be able to participate fully, with the exception of voting. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month at the Minnetonka Community Center: July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14.
