35 Delegates, Alternates to Represent SD 42 at
State ConventionCongratulations to 35 delegates and alternates who will represent Senate District 42 at the DFL State Convention June 9-11 in Rochester. These delegates and alternates were elected at the SD 42 convention March 25 at Eden Prairie High School and have already attended the DFL?s 3rd Congressional District Convention on May 6. More than 2,400 delegates and alternates from across Minnesota are expected to attend the DFL State Convention, where they will endorse candidates for U.S. Senate, Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State and State Auditor, and do other state business. Speakers will include members of Minnesota?s congressional delegation and Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold. Senate District 42 delegates include: Steve Barberio, Marylu Belisle, Lou Ellingson, Marge Hoffa, Lee Kaphingst, Kyle Lewis, Nancy Nelson, Mary Nieting, Jane Ochrymowycz, Cynthia Olson, Laurie Pryor, Michael Rothman, Yvonne Selcer, Bill Sorem, Todd Wendt and Ken Wilson. Kathy and Rick Nelson are at-large delegates and Rep. Maria Ruud is an elected official delegate. Alternates include: Reade Bailey, Ron Borchardt, Cheryl Brown, Zip Cotter, Elaine Dahl, Patricia Gernes, Richard Hanson, Joan Hiller, Beth Potter, Kris Avery, Kathy Lindelof, Michael Perkins, Mitch Potter, Brent Routman, Nicky Mastain and Marc Drummond. ?Legacy Project? Event May 31; Ask Your Mpls/St.
Paul Friends to AttendA kickoff event for the Legacy Project will be held Wednesday, May 31, from 6-7:30 p.m., at 3128 James Ave. South in Minneapolis. Encourage your friends who live in Minneapolis and St. Paul to join the Legacy Project, which supports progressive candidates in winnable suburban and exurban districts. Legacy Project volunteers from ?safe? DFL urban districts were instrumental in helping Rep. Maria Ruud win her northern Eden Prairie/southern Minnetonka seat in 2004 and Rep. Ruud will be at the May 31 event to talk about how the Legacy Project is continuing to support her. SD 42 Central Committee Meeting Set For June 15 The next Central Committee meeting for Senate District 42 is Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in the Minnetonka Mills Room at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Boulevard in Minnetonka. The Central Committee is made up of about 80 people, including the Executive Committee, State Central Committee members and all precinct chairs and associate chairs. All local Democrats are welcome to attend these meetings. Your input is valued and you will be able to participate fully, with the exception of voting. After the June 15 meeting, subsequent 2006 meetings will be held the second Thursday of every month in the Shady Oak Room at the Minnetonka Community Center: July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9 and December 14. DFL LINKS Usually Held Fourth Tuesday The Eden Prairie/Minnetonka DFL Links (formerly DFL Meetup) is usually held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Bear Rock Caf?, 13330 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. You can informally meet and socialize with neighbors who share similar political views, hear updates on national and local campaigns and issues, learn about volunteer opportunities, participate in training sessions and get plugged into the DFL. re-election campaign for the 42A House seat
(northern Eden Prairie, southern Minnetonka) is in
full swing. Rep. Ruud has worked tirelessly for all
of her constituents and it is vital that we re-elect
her, hold her seat and take back the House.There will be regular door-knocking sessions on many weekday evenings and weekends throughout the summer and fall. There will also be many other volunteer opportunities where your help is needed, including: phone banks to identify and persuade voters; writing letters to the editor; hosting and attending house parties; walking in parades; staffing events; and putting up yard signs. Carol Bomben became the DFL-endorsed candidate for
the Senate District 42 state senate seat (Eden
Prairie and southern Minnetonka) on March 25 and
formally announced her candidacy on April 15. The
longtime Eden Prairie School Board member is running
